This class offers an abundance of professional enhancement with special Guest Speaker Mr. Stan Barrett who brings over 30 years of professional experience, inclusive of being a professional staff at one of the largest national Big 8 Certified Public Accounting Firms during the 1970s and 1980s, tenure as Head of Department of Housing and Community Development, managing an annual budget between $20-25 million, and implementing affordable family housing programs.
The investment to the Just Say Yes Life Class will also offer special guest, Michelle Cunningham (Director, Procurement Technical Assistance Center, Kansas City), presenting an Introduction to Government Contracting. She will discuss the critical first steps associated with winning government contracts. You will discover required registrations, various socio-economic certifications, how to conduct market research, and where to find bid opportunities.
Michelle “Shelly” Cunningham is the director of the Kansas City office of the Missouri Procurement Technical Assistance Center (MO PTAC). Since 2010, Shelly has counseled hundreds of businesses on the many issues related to doing business with the government, including assistance with market research, bid proposal reviews, vendor registrations, various federal and local certifications, GSA schedules and assistance with understanding rules and regulations. Prior to joining MO PTAC, Shelly worked 25 years in procurement in the commercial sector.
Shelly recently earned a master’s certificate in government contracting from the George Washington University School of Business. She is also a certified U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs verification counselor and holds an associate contracting assistance specialist certificate from APTAC, the national organization for PTAC.
